Our Monday morning began with storytelling through Partner Talkers, typing practice to support what the kids have been doing as one part of technology with Mr. Jamesbarry, and some free writing.

Run For The Arts

Reed Science - using magnet accelerators

Kids are continuing our Road Trip USA Project, collecting data about their chosen state through reading books and websites.  Kids have shifted to analyzing their data as geographers and deciding what to include as they create a Google Slides presentation.  Our conversations have also shifted from talking about strategies for choosing credible sources and note taking to talking about designing a digital presentation.  We will continue this project next week.

Learning about range, mode, median, and mean during math...and some multiplication and division fluency practice, too.

Thursday's state-wide earthquake drill.  From the Lewis Homepage...
Today we conducted an earthquake drill as part of the statewide Great Oregon Shakeout. Students and staff practiced safety procedures, reviewing the Drop, Cover, Hold On procedure and then practicing a building evacuation. The drill went smoothly and the students and staff responded extremely well to the whole event. We will conduct another earthquake drill later in the school year.
Emergency Contact Information: Drills such as this are a good time to remind families to be sure that your contact and emergency contact information is up to date. If you have changed phone numbers, or if the list of people who can pick up your child in the case of an emergency has changed, please be sure to contact the school office ( 503 916 6360 ) and we will be glad to update our records.

Hulu hoopin' at recess and ultimate frisbee during PE.  Mr. Mark joined in the game.  Lots of good communication and teamwork by all!
