Oregon Food Bank - Project Second Wind Food Drive 2015

Project Second Wind, the Oregon Food Bank’s annual food drive, will come to Lewis the week of March 2nd through March 6th, 2015.  Each classroom will have a collection box.  Fifth grade students will empty these boxes each day to record and box up each classroom’s collected food items.

Please join Lewis and the Oregon Food Bank to provide a “second wind” of hunger relief after the holidays in our community.  Last year students at 39 Portland public schools collected 37,026 pounds and raised $27,329, making it possible for Oregon Food Bank to distribute more than 48,780 meals to families.

Please consider donating healthy, low fat and low sugar products from this list of most wanted foods.
  • canned meats (i.e., tuna, chicken, salmon)
  • canned and boxed meals (i.e., soup, chili, stew, macaroni and cheese)

  • pasta, rice, and cereal
  • canned fruits and vegetables
  • 100 percent fruit or vegetable juice (canned, plastic or boxed)

  • shelf stable milk

Please no glass, unlabeled, perishable, homemade, or open items, and no soda.
