Classroom Notes

We have arrived.  We are officially heading into the last week of the school year.  And what a year it has been!  This morning, we made a list of all the projects, activities, and trips that have taken place this year.  It was an impressive list!  We listed science camp, first grade buddies, poetry in the garden, creating eco-critters, drama club and drama class, creative dramatics, Reed science, bike safety, and more!  We had another busy and productive week that included writing letters to prior Lewis teachers, programming Sphero robots during technology with Mr. Jamesbarry, our last library checkout with Ms. Tori, lunch helpers, band and Boomin’ Beats performances, and the play we wrote as a class and are practicing together.  My final (farewell) letter of the year will be posted next Wednesday, but for now, I want to pass along some “last week of school” information.

Team 20 Theater:  Last week we wrote a play together.  It is the story of a class who goes on a field trip to a forest and encounters an owl, a gigantic snail, and a string of fairy tale characters.  There will be two performances of “Once Upon a Field Trip” on Wednesday, June 10th at 9:50 and 11:10 for other Lewis classes, including our first grade buddies.

In the afternoon on Wednesday, June 10th we will dismantle most of the decorations in the room.  A grocery sack would be very useful on Wednesday since room 20 is filled with a variety of kid-generated items.  (Extra sacks are welcomed!)  Thursday, June 11th is the official last day of school.  Other upcoming events include Field Day on Thursday, June 4th and the End-of-the-Year School Picnic at 6:00 on Friday, June 5th.  The 5th grade promotion is on Thursday, June 11th at 2:00 in the cafeteria.  Parents are welcome to attend.  I hope to see you there!

And as we head into the last week, I want to thank all of you for the support you have given to the kids of Team 20 and to me.  Education is a cooperative venture between home and school.  I am fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of families!
