Photos From Our Week

Reading with our buddies in Mrs. Logue's first grade

This week, we were able to spend some time in the garden doing what we are calling Outdoor Classroom.  This outdoor learning component helps set the context for science learning for the year as we use observation to collect data.  Our conversations have been about how community is made of built and natural environments and the garden is a combination of both.

Making team t-shirts...a big thanks to parent helpers!

During language workshop this week, kids worked on their Summer Episode personal narrative using their plans to write a rough draft on their personal Chromebook.  Kids are also working on alphabet posters for the walls.

Many kids are opting for audiobooks during S.S.R.

Playing a Tic Tac Toe Sums with a partner and using strategies to problem solve "How tall is Mr. Mark?" and "How tall is Norah Lee?"

For read aloud, we finished Shiloh.  Marty finally got his beloved dog and came to understand mean ol' Judd Travers in a new light.  "Nothing is as simple as you guess."  We began reading my personal favorite, Lizard Music, by Daniel Pinkwater.

Practicing introducing family at Open House...and a packed room 20!  It was great to see so many of you at Open House.  Thank you for coming out.  The kids were excellent tour guides.

Music with Mr. Jamesbarry, PE with Ms. Layman, and our first library of the year with Ms. Tori.  Books are due every Wednesday.

We finished our Friday with Team Time...this week the kids voting to play board games.
