Classroom Notes

It was another busy and productive week for Team 20!  In addition to the usual routines, here are a few highlights of what we’ve been doing.

Kids learned about animal adaptations and sowbug habitats during last week’s Reed Science.  This topic connects nicely to what we’ve been learning about in the Outdoor Classroom.  On Tuesday, kids worked with a partner to make neutrally buoyant phytoplankton during a science lab about form, function, and adaptations.

Run for the Arts is Thursday afternoon.  At the end of the day today, we talked about how to be prepared for the run.  Kids mentioned bringing a water bottle and wearing good footwear and clothes for running.

Speaking of art, we began working with Ms. Gina, Lewis Elementary School’s artist-in-residence.  Kids made value cones, which are now on display in the hall near room 20.  Ms. Gina will teach the kids about a dozen more times over the course of the year.

Thank you for signing up for conferences.  The kids are working very hard, and I am looking forward to our talk together about all the fine things your child has accomplished!  A green conference time reminder slip went home today in your kid’s THF.
