Classroom Notes

Greetings!

Team 20 will be walking to Reed College’s Cooley Gallery on the morning of Friday, November 6th, for a gallery tour.  Reed’s Outreach Coordinator, Gregory MacNaughton, visited room 20 today to frontload what we will see at the exhibit.  It is bound to be a great time!  Please help your kid remember to wear their Team 20 t-shirt for Friday’s trip.

Kids finished revising their planning webs last Thursday and began writing Eco-Critter Essay rough drafts on their Chromebooks this week.  We also began a personal narrative writing unit this week.  The “authors and actors” unit uses a mixture of theater and writing activities.  Our first topic is “A Time I Broke the Rules.”  We are using a mentor text by Jon Scieszka called “Who Did It?” to explore using action and dialog in stories.

Kids are back into their work with code.org during technology class with Mr. Jamesbarry.

Kids are eager for our salmon eggs to hatch as part of Reed Science.  Last week kids played a salmon life cycle game and concluded that being a salmon is tough.  If you would like to volunteer during Reed Science on Thursday afternoons from 1:45 to 2:45, that would be great!  Please send me an email (mrichner@pps.net) or drop me a note.

Mark
